Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader permanently halted his trip to New York City serving the needs of the Dominican Republic after Hurricane Fiona passed, which mainly affected the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Samaná, Hato Mayor, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte and Monte Plata.
In a short message addressed to the entire Dominican people, through his account Twitterthe president indicated that will personally oversee the relief efforts in the areas affected by Fiona.
“This week I was scheduled to address the UN General Assembly in New York to present our views on regional and global political issues, but given the impact of Hurricane Fiona, that is my primary responsibility. attend to the needs and urgent needs that are needed in our country now”.
For this purpose, the President will visit on Tuesday, September 20 the provinces of La Altagracia, El Seibo and Hato Mayor, but for the rest of the week he will visit other affected districts.
In this sense, he emphasized that his priority is to be with all the Dominican men and women who have been affected by the passage of this atmospheric phenomenon.
“Now is the time to fulfill my most sacred duty as President; help and establish all necessary means to get back to normal, repair the damage and be with my people.”
